666 is our own proprietary game / application engine, written in C/C++, and using OpenGL for its rendering pipeline.
The name comes from Robert A. Heinlein‘s ‘The Number of the Beast‘ (not the obvious Biblical reference) in which the infamous number pertains to the number of traversable universes – each being some variant or reproduction of fictional realities – such as Lilliput, and so on.
The number of universes in the book is actually 6, to the power 6, to the power 6 – which I believe is 10,314,424,798,490,535,546,171,949,056 – sufficiently huge!
666 was designed and built to be ‘game agnostic’ – it can be used to produce any kind or genre of game (it powers Gemstars, and Slam! and is currently powering Dominium), and can be used for games, virtual reality projects, or more serious applications.
It currently supports the following platforms ;
- Macintosh OSX
- Linux (Ubuntu)
Support is planned for ;
